INDUSTRY: Insurance Brokerage

JOB SUMMARY
The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction and operational performance of the Insurance Brokerage Company. The role ensures sustainable growth, regulatory compliance, profitability, excellent client service and effective management of people and resources.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Strategic Leadership
• Develop and implement the company’s strategic plans in line with Board objectives.
• Identify growth opportunities, new markets and innovative insurance solutions.
• Provide leadership that drives performance, accountability and ethical standards.
2) Operations and Business Management
• Oversee day-to-day operations of the brokerage business.
• Ensure efficient processes across underwriting support, claims handling, client servicing and administration.
• Monitor operational KPI’s and ensure service excellence.
3) Business Development & Client Management
•Drive revenue growth through new business acquisition and client retention.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with Insurers, Corporate clients and key stakeholders.
• Lead negotiations with Insurance Companies on terms, rates and service agreements.
4) Financial Management
• Prepare and manage annual budgets, forecasts and financial plans.
• Monitor income, expenses, cashflow and profitability.
• Ensure accurate financial reporting and cost control.
5) Regulatory and Compliance
• Ensure full compliance with the Insurance Regulatory Bodies (e.g. NAICOM).
• Oversee adherence to corporate governance, risk management and internal control policies.
• Ensure timely regulatory filings, renewals and other statutory obligations.
6) Key Qualifications & Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in insurance, Business Administration, Finance, Economics or related field.
• Professional Insurance Qualification (CIIN) is highly mandatory.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the insurance industry, with at least 5 years in senior management or leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of insurance brokerage operations and regulations.
• Proven tract record in business development and financial management.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, communication, and decision-making skills.
