SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

The Information Technology Specialist provides software and network support, training and troubleshooting in a networked microcomputer environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Acts as software support, providing technical assistance to Triple J Employees.

2. Responds to user requests for service and determines nature and extent of support needed.

3. Installs, configures, maintains, and troubleshoots a wide range of software used throughout the operations.

4. Performs hardware/software upgrades to existing computer equipment as needed.

5. Installs networked application software, granting access to users, creating user groups, managing shared resources.

6. Contacts software vendors to obtain specifications, pricing, and other purchase related information needed to guide departments in their selection of software.

7. Develops job aids for tasks performed in software applications.

8. Sets up batch files or procedures to facilitate software installation by other support staff or to help users in their specific tasks.

9. Conduct capacity planning for network bandwidth, storage requirements, messaging, websites, and other applications

10. Maintains up-to-date expertise in the operation and application of software and a working knowledge of a wide variety of commonly used hardware and software.

11. Advises supervisor in setting and updating standards for microcomputer software. Assists in evaluation and testing of microcomputer software and in planning for future needs.

12. May coordinate departmental purchases of application software and provide license tracking company-wide on all centrally purchased packages such as anti-virus and office suites.

13. System and network administration.

14. Performs other related duties as required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed indoors with some potential for exposure to safety and health hazards related to electronics work. May periodically travel to other company sites.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

May require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; the ability to stand, walk and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10 - 50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read technical information.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position.

Qualifications

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

1. Special technical knowledge of the techniques and procedures of software and network support for multiple users.

2. Must understand installation, configuration and troubleshooting processes for software, hardware, networking and accessory equipment.

3. Experience in HTML, MySQL, AWS (server and user access), PHP, CSS, JavaScript, Programming, Wordpress, DNS and familiarity with multiple web browsers and OS platforms, software procurement and updates, user management and SAS administration (Google Suite, Zoom, UniVerse, etc.)

4. Knowledge of how to assemble and disassemble personal computer components, including cabling.

5. Must be able to install, configure, troubleshoot and maintain all of the software applications and peripheral equipment used at the company.

6. Must possess strong analytical interpersonal, and communication skills and have the ability to work with minimal supervision in a team environment

7. Strong analytical and problem solving skills

8. Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines

9. Proficiency with VPN networks, firewalls, encryption, and other aspects of network security technologies

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

1. AA/AS degree in computer related field or BA/BS degree in computer science.

2. Two years relevant experience or related discipline
