The Los Angeles County Employees Retirement Association (LACERA) administers and manages the $87+ billion retirement fund for the County of Los Angeles. ABOUT THE POSITION:
Positions allocable to this class, under the general supervision of a Document Processing Supervisor, are assigned to LACERA's Document Processing Center. This is a fully qualified journey-level classification in the Document Processing series which is responsible for independently performing specialized duties in support of division operations.
Document Processing Specialists prepare, analyze, scan, and index all incoming documents from members, survivors, dependents, beneficiaries, legal counsel, third parties, and other LACERA divisions. This includes assigning relevant document coding and analyzing documents to ensure type, accuracy, and authenticity. Incumbents may assist in providing on the job training to less experienced staff. Work requires a thorough knowledge of document management systems, document entry processes, document codes, related equipment, standards, procedures, and quality control. Incumbents rely on experience and judgement to accurately identify documents, assign appropriate coding, and scan and index records and must be proficient in prioritizing a high volume of requests to complete work within time standards.
Vacancy Information: There is currently seven (7) vacancies in the Document Processing Center, however, the resulting eligible register for this examination can be used to fill both current and future vacancies throughout the Human Resources Division.
Work Schedule: This full-time position is required to work a 5/40 schedule (e.g. an eight (8) hour day, Monday through Friday). LACERA offers a hybrid work environment, and this position may be eligible to telework up to three (3) days per week depending on the needs of the Human Resources Division and LACERA. This position may require working evenings, weekends, and holidays.

REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
OPTION 1:
One (1) year of experience as an Intermediate Clerk, LACERA or higher operating scanning/imaging equipment.
OPTION 2:
Eighteen (18) months clerical experience, with at least twelve (12) months of responsible experience operating scanning/imaging equipment.
Other Requirements: Applicants must be able to perform the essential functions of this classification, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
PHYSICAL CLASS III -Moderate: Standing or walking most of the time, with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, working on irregular surfaces, occasional lifting over 25 pounds, and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated experience using specialized document management systems for scanning, indexing, and retrieving records.
Demonstrated experience analyzing documents for type, accuracy, authenticity, and resolving discrepancies independently.
Demonstrated experience managing sensitive and confidential documents including protected health information (PHI), legal records, and personally identifiable information such as social security numbers.
Demonstrated printing experience requiring the use of a variety of reproduction-related equipment and software such as high-volume commercial printers, with proficiency in operating and maintaining the printer by replenishing supplies and troubleshooting common issues.
Demonstrated specialized experience in document imaging, including coordinating, preparing, prioritizing, processing, and performing quality checks on documents for scanning, while ensuring all scanned images are complete and legible.
Demonstrated experience sorting and indexing large volumes of physical and digital documents using alphanumeric filing systems requiring attention to detail and accuracy.
