Operating Room (OR) Technician – Full-Time Day Shift

Location: Memorial Hospital

Schedule: 4 shifts/week, 7–9 hours per shift Monday–Friday

Call: Every 3rd week

The Operating Room Technician assists the surgical team in providing safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. This role is responsible for preparing the operating room, maintaining sterile technique, and supporting surgeons and nursing staff throughout procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Prepares operating rooms by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies

Assists surgeons and nursing staff during surgical procedures while maintaining sterile technique

Anticipates the needs of the surgical team to ensure efficient case flow

Performs instrument counts and assists with specimen handling

Cleans and restocks operating rooms between cases

Participates in on-call rotation and responds promptly when scheduled

Adheres to hospital policies, infection control standards, and patient safety protocols

Reports to: Nurse, Nurse Manager, Chief Nursing OfficerQualifications

Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technician Program, preferred

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)

BLS (Basic Life Support)

6 months structured on-the-job training in OR and Central Supply

Preferred:

2+ years of OR and Central Supply experience preferred.

Skills Needed:

Clinical knowledge, infection control, communication, teamwork, multitasking, and bedside manner.

Strong attention to detail and cImmunization Requirements

Compliance with IDPH, CDC, and CMS vaccination standardsPhysical Demands

Frequent standing, bending, reaching, and twisting

Occasionally sitting and typing

Lifting up to 35 lbs without assistance
