Hours: Up to 29 hours/week, M-F, evening and occasional Saturday hours

Job Summary: Operate a school bus or passenger van to transport members safely and efficiently to an assigned location using a designated route. Perform related duties as required or assigned.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Drive a school bus over an assigned route in accordance with time schedules, picking up and/or discharging members
Maintain good working order among youth passengers both on the vehicle and while picking up and/or discharging members
Assist in maintaining the vehicle in a clean and safe condition, inspect the assigned vehicle daily and promptly report, correct, or cause to be corrected any noted defect
Keep operation records; participate in emergency evacuation drills
Transport members and/or parents on field trips, athletic events and other assigned trips
Assist with supervising Club members at site, as well as during pickups, drop-offs and field trips
Communicate and report any incidents which take place during a bus route in a timely manner; ensure the safety of all members
Verify member absences with Club management
Attend re-training, skill improvement, safety and other meetings as directed
Administer first aid as needed, assist in supervising groups on all field trips and sports events in between drop-off and pick-up
Uphold organization mission and values, as well as develop positive relationships and abide by boundaries established by BGCGG
Attend necessary trainings to maintain school bus certificate; attend weekly meetings
Comply with all road regulations and laws specified in the commercial driver handbook issued by DMV and follow all CHP 82.7 handbook laws; obey all traffic laws
Conduct a pre-trip of bus before departure Qualifications
At least 21 years of age
Experience driving a school bus or heavy motor vehicle
Experience working with youth in a group setting preferred
Valid CA driver license, current auto insurance, safe driving record, reliable transportation and at least 2 years of driving experience
Bilingual capabilities preferred
Must maintain valid CPR certification throughout employment through BGCGG CPR Program or through another acceptable CPR certification agency Licenses & Certificates
California Class B driver license
Successful completion of all examination components required by school bus drivers by the CHP including PS endorsement
Valid School Bus Certificate (Required restrictions: 1, 4, 5)
Valid standard First Aid Certificate
Valid Medical Exam Certificate (DL51A)
Current copy of T-01 card Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Frequently sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, stoop, bend, reach overhead; may move students weighing up to 25 pounds
Use both hands and legs simultaneously; repetitively twists and exert pressure with wrists and hands
Have rapid mental and muscular coordination; communicate clearly and able to understand normal voice conversation
Have good depth perception and color vision; drive a school bus; work inside and outside; work with loud noises and vibration
Visual acuity sufficient to see small details and long distances in an outdoor environment
Occasionally exposed to fumes, gases, machinery with moving parts and moving vehicles
Frequently exposed to minor, occasionally severe, contagious diseases; may require working split shifts, and/or extended hour and long day assignments; direct contact with public, students, passengers and other club and district staff Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to effectively communicate including verbal, written, in small and large group settings
Must have strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and rapport
Ability to drive defensively including proper operation of school buses and vehicles of various sizes
Knowledge of applicable provisions of the California Motor Vehicles, safe driving practices and approved first aid method
Ability to interact with members on a bus including behavioral issues
Ability to easily follow and distribute directions such as bus routes, field trip schedules, work schedules and maps
Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks including effective time management and attention to detail
Ability to maintain Daily Vehicle Records (DVR's) and note mechanical issues or damage found on the bus during inspections
Must be able to collaborate effectively; ability to apply critical thinking skills when problem solving Requirements
Position may require standing/sitting for extended periods of time, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate office equipment, reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, bending at the waist; seeing to review and analyze reports, documents or other reports; hearing and speaking to communicate and provide information to others; speaking to be heard before groups of people; position may require to lift, carry, pull or otherwise move objects between 10-20 pounds
Must pass Staff Instructional Exam prior to employment
Fulfills minimum professional development requirement
