Manufacturing Engineer (Assembly and Installation) - Level 4

SME within Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) in analyzing product development, complex producibility studies and production/tooling philosophies. Refines, validates, coordinates and implements conceptual designs and manages the program architecture for build. Develops manufacturing plans and oversees plan optimization. Conducts complex producibility and variation analyses to ensure that manufacturing process capability matches requirements. Resolves complex technical problems. Serves as a project manager to ensure that contract requirements, specifications, design criteria and schedule performance are integrated and maintained. SME in advanced design solutions and supports research of new product or business opportunities. Deploys company Lean Enterprise analysis methods. Documents and communicates producibility best practices. Provides guidance to others through structured mentoring.

Position responsibilities

• Implements design and build plan changes, minimizing disruption while capturing maximum benefits through highly collaborative behavior and processes championed by Manufacturing Engineering and inclusive of all the stakeholders in the change.

• Responsible for integrating changes to the affected commodities and executing the Build Integration milestones.

• Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports. Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.

• Support the execution of the Build Integration process by providing visibility of active engineering design changes and associated risks to milestones and ensuring design changes advance through the review process.

• Facilitate collaboration and integration across the affected commodities.

• Develop and implement manufacturing plans.

• Create installation planning and supporting installation planning shipside in San Antonio.

• Support team performance by participating in process/tool improvement projects.

REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in STEM (ABET) and 10+ years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

• 5+ years’ experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications.

• 5+ years’ experience supporting the development of the engineering technical data packages needed to produce aircraft parts and components.

• 5+ years’ experience utilizing professional/technical writing skills, teaming successfully to solve technical issues.

• Experience with CATIA

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

• 5+ years’ experience with IVT

• Experience with GoldEsp

• Manufacturing engineering experience at Boeing

• Microsoft Office Suite Skills
