Join Howard Shockey & Sons, one of the region’s most trusted and long-standing commercial construction leaders, as a Labor Foreman and play a hands-on role in shaping the success of our projects. In this key position, you will lead and support both in-house labor teams and subcontracted crews to keep job sites clean, safe, organized, and operating efficiently. The Labor Foreman coordinates daily workforce needs, assigns tasks, monitors performance, and contributes to maintaining project schedules—making you an essential partner in delivering high-quality results across our construction portfolio. This role is based on-site at an active project in Annapolis, Maryland. Upon completion of that project, future assignments will fall within a 75-mile radius of our Frederick, MD office.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise, schedule, and direct in-house labor crews and subcontractor labor teams.
Manage site cleanup, debris removal, and general labor tasks to maintain safe and efficient job sites.
Ensure compliance with company safety policies, OSHA standards, and site-specific safety requirements.
Coordinate with project management and superintendents to align labor resources with project priorities.
Conduct daily site walks to verify completion of assigned tasks and identify additional needs.
Track labor hours, productivity, and manpower requirements.
Train and mentor new laborers on proper techniques, safety, and work practices.
Monitor quality of work to ensure tasks are performed to company standards.
Act as a liaison between site management, subcontractors, and labor crews.
Assist in maintaining project schedules by ensuring timely completion of labor-driven tasks.

Requirements:
3+ years of experience in commercial construction labor
Strong knowledge of construction site practices, safety standards, and labor operations
Ability to effectively manage, motivate, and lead diverse teams of in-house staff and subcontractors
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to read and interpret basic project documents and instructions
Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to adapt to changing project needs
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred
Individual must meet all requirements to be deemed an Howard Shockey & Son's Competent Person
