Chemical Process Engineer OverviewThe Chemical Process Engineer supports safe, efficient, and reliable operations across chemical manufacturing processes at our Red Diamond Plant.
This role focuses on process optimization, troubleshooting, data analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The Chemical Process Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to enhance safety, quality, and productivity while ensuring compliance with environmental and operational standards.Key Responsibilities and Duties: Provide technical support for daily plant operations, including troubleshooting chemical and process-related issues.
Design and maintain measurement and control systems to improve process reliability and efficiency.
Analyze production data (cycle time, productivity, uptime, yields) to identify trends and optimize processes.
Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Process Safety Management (PSM) documentation, and Management of Change (MOC) forms.
Participate in Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs) and ensure regulatory compliance for environmental performance.
Collaborate with production and quality teams to ensure product specifications and testing protocols are met.
Lead or support small to medium capital projects, including design, implementation, and commissioning.
Maintain and improve process documentation, including process flow diagrams, P&IDs, and mass balances.
Contribute to incident investigations and root cause analyses, supporting corrective actions.
Provide technical training and mentorship to operators and team members.Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or equivalent work experienceKnowledge of process control systems and applicable regulationsFamiliarity with distillation, wastewater treatment, acid handling, cooling water, and refrigeration systems is a plusSkills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Strong analytical and data interpretation skills Effective communication and interpersonal skills Familiarity with PSM, MOC, and risk assessment methodologies Ability to work in a manufacturing setting, including climbing stairs/ladders and wearing required PPEWork Environment: Based in a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to industrial equipment, chemicals, and varying temperatures Frequent movement throughout the facility, including climbing stairs and ladders PPE such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection must be worn as required Occasional extended hours or weekend work to support production needs or project deadlines Must be comfortable working in highly regulated environments with strict safety and environmental standards
