HVAC Mechanical Superintendent
The HVAC Mechanical Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the installation, coordination, and quality of HVAC and mechanical systems on construction projects. This role ensures projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and meet company and client standards. The superintendent will lead field crews, coordinate with subcontractors, and collaborate closely with project management and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate HVAC/mechanical field crews, subcontractors, and trade partners to ensure proper installation of ductwork, piping, and related systems.
Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and plans to guide field operations and identify potential issues before installation.
Schedule and sequence work to meet project milestones, deadlines, and client expectations.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and quality control procedures on all mechanical work.
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other superintendents to resolve issues, verify progress, and maintain project documentation.
Manage labor, equipment, and material utilization efficiently to control project costs.
Conduct daily site inspections and provide clear reporting on work progress, field issues, and safety compliance.
Mentor and train field staff to uphold company standards and best practices.
Qualifications
7+ years of field experience in HVAC/mechanical construction, including supervisory roles.
Proven ability to manage complex mechanical systems installations (ductwork, piping, chillers, air handlers, etc.).
Strong knowledge of mechanical drawings, specifications, and MEP coordination.
Familiarity with HVAC codes, OSHA standards, and industry best practices.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with project management software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, or similar) is a plus.
Ability to manage multiple trades and work in a fast-paced construction environment.
Preferred
Experience on commercial, industrial, or large-scale institutional projects.
Mechanical certification, technical training, or relevant licensing (e.g., journeyman, HVAC tech license).
Experience coordinating with design-build or design-assist teams.
Knowledge of commissioning and startup procedures for HVAC systems.
