Description of Duties and Responsibilities:

SW II's interact directly with the clients. Their primary responsibility is to ensure that the client's needs are assessed and met and, in addition, will take on the responsibilities of Shift Supervisor when required.

In this role, the individual:

interacts with clients in a caring, non-judgmental manner

consults with Supervisor in a supportive role

is responsible for intake procedures at client entry, including registration, searches and ensuring that money and valuables are referred to Supervisor for lock-up

monitors clients on a regular basis and communicates concerns and recommendations to Supervisor

records observation of detox clients in detox files

assists with daily statistics

coordinates with Clinical Social Worker to ensure that requests for treatment are addressed

implements disinfectant and clean-up procedures as required and assists with hygienic procedures

assists Cook and Housekeeper as required

attends general staff meetings and Supervisor's meetings as required

any other related task or responsibility assigned by the Shift Supervisor or Senior Manager

Position Requirements:

Demonstrated level of literacy and communication skills sufficient for job responsibilities

An open, accepting attitude

Experience in working in the addictions field

Diploma or Degree in the human services field preferred

Current and valid Police with Vulnerable Sector check
