Role Overview
We are seeking a highly seasoned Senior Project Manager (PMO) to support statewide initiatives within a government environment. The role partners with IT agency teams, business stakeholders, and governance bodies to deliver high-visibility compliance and technology projects.
This position operates within a structured PMO using formal methodologies and requires strong leadership, communication, and execution skills across hybrid work settings.
Key Responsibilities
Manage end-to-end IT project delivery across scope, budget, schedule, risk, and quality
Utilize Project Portfolio Management tools (Clarity) for planning, resourcing and tracking
Develop formal PM deliverables and governance documentation, including:
Project Charter, Project Schedule & Budget
Communication Plans & Status Reports
Change Requests (CRs), Risk & Issue Logs
Corrective Action Plans (CAPs)
Project Close-out Summaries
Support compliance and security initiatives including:
System Security Plans (SSP)
Plan of Action & Milestones (POAM)
Lead multi-disciplinary teams and coordinate across agencies and vendors
Facilitate workshops, build consensus, and manage stakeholder expectations
Ensure proper alignment with:
State PM Methodology (SUITE PMM)
Systems Engineering Methodology (SEM)
Change management processes
Review vendor contracts and enforce deliverables and approvals
Manage issues involving system integration, SaaS platforms, and COTS solutions
Required Experience
7+ years leading IT projects in formal PM roles
Government, public sector, or regulated environment experience
Strong background managing multi-vendor ecosystems
Proven record delivering projects on time & within budget
Expertise in:
Budgeting & forecasting
Work breakdown planning
Portfolio management tools (Clarity)
MS Project (Advanced)
Change control processes
Risk & issue management
-Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels – technical & executive
Additional Must-Haves
Experience with:
Managing SSP & POAM deliverables
SaaS & COTS solutions
Architecture/Systems integrations
Prior technical background or technical PM experience
Experience working across departments and agency partners
Certified Scrum Master
Preferred Qualifications
