About the Role
The Governor’s Office is seeking a Policy Advisor specializing in Education and Tax Policy to join our Policy Team. This role is critical to advancing the Governor’s priorities in K-12 and higher education, workforce development, and state tax policy. As a trusted advisor, you will help shape and implement policy initiatives that impact Montana’s schools, families, and economy.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze and develop policy proposals related to K-12 and higher education, workforce development, and state tax policy.
Prepare briefing materials and advise the Governor, Lt. Governor, and senior staff on education, workforce, and tax issues.
Build relationships with constituents, school districts, educators, legislators, and business leaders to advance the Governor’s agenda.
Draft and monitor legislation; testify before legislative committees on priority bills.
Coordinate with state agencies, including the Department of Revenue, Department of Labor and Industry, and Office of Public Instruction, to implement policy changes.
Represent the Governor at education, labor, and tax policy forums, conferences, and stakeholder meetings.
Qualifications
Strong understanding of education systems and tax policy.
Experience in policy development, legislative processes, or government relations.
Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
