Position Summary
The Assistant Controller will play a key role in overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls. This role works closely with leadership to provide financial clarity across projects, inventory, and field operations.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Maintain and improve accounting processes, policies, and internal controls
Oversee general ledger activity, account reconciliations, and journal entries
Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Track project costs, job costing, and profitability across multiple projects
Assist with inventory accounting and cost of goods sold analysis
Support audits, tax preparation, and external accountant relationships
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local reporting requirements
Collaborate with operations and project management teams to improve financial visibility
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
CPA or CMA preferred (or actively pursuing)
3–6+ years of progressive accounting experience
Experience in construction, manufacturing, materials, or project-based industries strongly preferred
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, or similar ERP systems)
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, financial modeling)
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to communicate clearly with both financial and non-financial team membersCompany Description
