Facilities Engineer
Allied Mineral Products is a leading manufacturer of monolithic refractories worldwide. We are seeking a Facilities Engineer in our Columbus, Ohio location, who will be responsible for ensuring the efficient, reliable, and safe operation of all facility systems across a manufacturing and office campus. This role combines strategic planning with hands-on technical expertise to maintain and optimize critical infrastructure-including facility security and access control, HVAC, fire protection, and energy management systems-while driving performance improvements and implementing innovative technologies that enhance service delivery, reliability, and sustainability. Beyond day-to-day operations, the Facilities Engineer will serve as a key leader in developing standardized facilities practices, technical guidelines, and performance benchmarks across all global affiliates. This position will also provide engineering support for building construction, expansion, and modernization projects, ensuring alignment with corporate standards, safety regulations, and long-term operational efficiency goals.

Key Duties:
Strategic Planning & Reliability
Develop and execute long-term facility strategies aligned with business objectives, sustainability goals, and regulatory compliance.
Conduct reliability assessments and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs for critical systems (HVAC, electrical, lighting, plumbing, compressed air, fire protection).
Identify and mitigate risks to ensure uninterrupted operations of manufacturing and office environments.
Maintenance & Operations
Oversee day-to-day facilities maintenance activities, ensuring adherence to safety standards and operational excellence.
Manage vendor relationships and service contracts for facility systems and equipment.
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime.
Technology & Continuous Improvement
Evaluate and implement advanced technologies (IoT sensors, building automation systems, energy management platforms) to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Lead projects to upgrade aging infrastructure and integrate smart solutions for predictive analytics and remote monitoring.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives using data-driven insights and industry best practices.
Compliance & Sustainability
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety standards.
Support sustainability initiatives through energy audits, waste reduction programs, and renewable energy integration.
Global Standards & Best Practices
Define and deploy facility engineering standards across global affiliates.
Construction & Expansion Support
Provide engineering input for design-build projects, installations, and modernization efforts, ensuring alignment with corporate guidelines and operational needs.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
5 years in facilities engineering within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
Proven track record in strategic planning, reliability engineering, and maintenance of critical systems.
Preference for experience in manufacturing facilities design-build, installation, and construction projects.
Experience with building automation systems, CMMS, and energy management technologies.
Familiarity with grounds and janitorial service management.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent project management and communication skills.
Familiarity with Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
Working Environment
Office work environment
Frequent exposure to Allied manufacturing facilities, which may include dusty, hot, or cold conditions.
Required to follow Allied Mineral Products' Safety & Health policy and wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as appropriate.
