The Role

Sunshine Coast Mazda is seeking a skilled and motivated Motor Mechanic to join its workshop team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining Mazda vehicles and related models to ensure optimal performance, safety, and compliance with manufacturer standards. The role involves close collaboration with service advisors, parts staff, and fellow technicians in a professional, team-oriented environment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Conducting vehicle inspections and diagnostics to identify mechanical, electrical, and system faults

• Performing repairs and maintenance, including engine work, braking systems, suspension, and electrical components

• Using diagnostic tools and manufacturer software to identify complex issues and recommend appropriate solutions

• Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with Mazda manufacturer specifications, service standards, and industry best practices

• Maintaining accurate and detailed service and repair records

• Staying current with Mazda technologies, updates, and repair techniques

• Communicating clearly with customers regarding repair procedures and recommendations when required

• Maintaining a safe, clean, and well-organised workshop environment

• Coordinating with service advisors, parts departments, and technicians to ensure efficient workflow

• Participating in ongoing training and skills development programs

• Supporting the development of junior technicians and apprentices

• Assisting with advanced diagnostic or technical support tasks as required

About You

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

• Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent qualification

• Minimum of three years’ post-trade experience in an automotive workshop environment

• Experience diagnosing faults in engines, electrical systems, and vehicle systems (preferred but not essential)

• Strong organisational, time management, and attention to detail skills

• A professional, collaborative attitude with a willingness to learn and adapt

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Experience with Mazda or similar brands (advantageous but not mandatory)
