We are seeking energetic, passionate people who enjoy the outdoors and want to play a key role for the position of Wildlife Officer Program Manager within the Division of Wildlife. What you will do…
Formulate, implement & coordinate the statewide wildlife officer law enforcement in-service and advanced level training program (firearms, defensive tactics, vehicle dynamics, legal updates, armorer maintenance, professional development, qualifications, Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy continuing professional training)
Prepare and recommend law enforcement policies and procedures
Oversee agency compliance with Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) and Ohio
Collaborative Community Police Advisory Board standards
Formulate, implement & coordinate the statewide evidence management program
Perform evidence audits on permanent evidence facilities
Manage forfeited property inventory
Formulate, implement & coordinate the purchase and inventory of specialized law enforcement equipment and vehicles (e.g., firearms, defensive tactics equipment, duty gear, emergency operation and safety equipment)
Starting hourly pay of $39.22/hr with multiple pay increases over your first 6.5 years of service, with an end salary of $55.99/hr.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT REQUIRED TO REMAIN IN THE CLASSIFICATION AFTER EMPLOYMENT: Must maintain agency required physical condition as outlined by department directive & pass any required medical examinations; must qualify semi-annually with firearms & related equipment; must maintain OPOTC certification. UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS: On call 24 hrs., 7 days per week; travels overnight; may work outside exposed to weather; may be exposed to physical violence.
Commissioned as wildlife officer by Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division Of Wildlife AND completion of Ohio Basic Peace Officer Training AND completion of undergraduate core wildlife-oriented-program (e.g., zoology, biology, ecology, botany, natural resources, conservation law enforcement) AND 5 yrs. exp. in wildlife law enforcement AND 2 yrs. training or 2 yrs. exp. in supervision/management.
-Or 4 yrs. exp. as Wildlife Officer Supervisor, 22295.
-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
NOTE: Applicant must successfully pass background check by appointing authority, which includes polygraph, psychological & medical examination. Applicant must demonstrate physical fitness as outlined in department directive. The final applicant accepted for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis to test for illegal drug use. An applicant with positive test results will not be offered employment per Section 123:1-76-09 Ohio Administrative Code.
