Job Description:

Duties and Responsibilities

Make up order lists of parts and materials required to maintain ships equipment. Perform Inventory Control using Computerized Maintenance Management System(NSE) Perform maintenance as required of NSMV's developed preventative Maintenance plan

Stand Watch as needed when vessel is operating during Training Cruise and/or activation as a 3rd Assistant Engineer - Motor

Perform duties as Ships Duty Engineer when assigned and operate all Hotel Services Perform mechanical and welding repairs

Actively participate in vessels SMS

Supervise and instruct cadets during the academic year and Training Cruise. Other duties as assigned by the First A/E and Chief Engineer

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree

Active MCC

Third Assistance Motors Unlimited HP license or higher

STCW certification with appropriate endorsements required by today's standard TWIC

Passport

Valid Drug Card

Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills

Desire to work in a student-oriented environment

Preferred Qualifications:

3 years industry experience on Motor vessels

Upper level USCG Engineers license

Minimum of 2 years sailing experience

Knowledge of the maritime industry

Working familiarization with Power Management systems

Demonstrated effectiveness in classroom/professional instruction

Additional Information:

Classification/Salary Range: The Third Assistant Engineer is a UUP position. The anticipated salary range for the position is $85,000 to $100,000 annually, with an outstanding benefits package. Special Notes: This is a full-time calendar year (12 month) appointment UUP Position. Fair Labor Standard Acts (FLSA) Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously.
