Extrusion/ Machine Operator A Shift

Position: Extrusion Operator

Location: Waterford, NY

Pay Rate: $21.00

Shift:/Schedule: 1st Shift. 7:00 am – 7:30 pm, Monday–Wednesday / Monday–Thursday

Nesco Resource is seeking a reliable and motivated Extrusion Operator to join our Manufacturing Team on third shift. The operator will work closely with the extrusion team and report directly to the shift supervisor. The primary responsibility is fabricating components of our polypropylene vent system product line while ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency.

Responsibilities

Execute daily shift handoffs by communicating production rates and equipment status

Lead 2nd shift team utilizing quality principles and continuous improvement practices

Distribute and monitor work orders among team members

Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment (5S principles)

Safely operate extrusion and related production equipment per work instructions

Ensure quality standards are met through attention to detail and in-process control checks

Perform preventative maintenance on assigned equipment

Accurately record production and inventory transactions in the MRP system

Contribute to process improvements and team projects

Perform other duties and assignments as required

Qualifications

High school diploma required; associate degree preferred

2–5 years of experience in one or more of the following strongly preferred:

Extrusion equipment operation

Blow molding, thermal forming, or injection molding equipment

Plastic or metal welding and fabrication (certification a plus)

Candidates with relevant operator experience outside of plastics will be considered (training provided)

Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word

Strong communication skills and ability to follow verbal/written instructions

Attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety

Forklift license is a plus

Physical Requirements

Regularly required to use hands, reach, talk, and hear

Regularly lift and/or move 10–50 lbs; occasionally lift/move over 100 lbs

Frequent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling

Occasional sitting, climbing, or balancing

Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment
