Job Description
About Pioneer
Pioneer Motor Bearing Company powers critical infrastructure and national defense. We provide bearing engineering, manufacturing, and repair services for large rotating equipment in power generation, and our PMB Machine Works division delivers precision-machined components to defense and aerospace. We’re a fourth-generation, family-led team that values character, skill, and growth. Role snapshot
As a Quotation Engineer, you’ll transform technical inputs into reliable cost and schedule estimates for new builds and repairs—arming Sales with TVC, labor hours, and lead times that meet customer expectations. What you’ll do
Compile complete estimates for repair and manufacturing work, including TVC, labor hour breakdowns, and lead-time commitments.
Review drawings, BOMs, process and material specifications; identify gaps and chase missing information.
Consult QA, Engineering, and Production to confirm capabilities; document exceptions to customer drawings/specs.
Create and maintain estimate quote sheets in Google Drive; prepare time sheets using setup times and machining formulas aligned to current processes.
Leverage ERP/CRM history to benchmark past performance and refine assumptions.
Obtain valid vendor quotes for raw materials; coordinate outside services and miscellaneous parts we don’t produce.
Deliver quick-turn “ballpark” quotes when information is limited, clearly stating assumptions and limits.
Support Sales with customer inquiries on quote status, material substitutions, and documented exceptions.
Proactively flag complexity risks so Sales can adjust labor rates and set expectations.
Cross-train as backup for the procurement agent when needed. What you bring
Self-motivation and the ability to prioritize estimates and hit deadlines with minimal supervision.
Strong organization, conceptual thinking, and administrative discipline.
Relationship-building skills across administrative and manufacturing teams.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, BOMs, and process/material specifications; working knowledge of CAD for quotation sketches.
Practical understanding of manual and CNC machining, tolerances, and efficient methods.
Technical experience demonstrated through degree and/or relevant work history.
Foundational understanding of fluid film bearings, rotating equipment, and repair/manufacturing methods.
Proficiency with Google Sheets and spreadsheets (formulas/functions), Gmail, documents, virtual meetings, shared calendars, and ERP/CRM (Salesforce).
Ability to move safely through the plant/yard and climb stairs in tight storage areas. Schedule & location
