Job Description JOB SUMMARY The Technician II assists with maintenance tasks for company assets and assists maintenance staff with overhauling minor components and installing replacements, with electrical, hydraulic and computer diagnostics and with scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIESPerform preventive maintenance according to the set schedules within standard repair times.Properly identify faults and out of service criteria when conducting a vehicle inspection and make repairs in a timely fashionNotify supervisor immediately of any parts that need to be orderedPerform basic diagnostic work and be trained on the use of gauges in hydraulic diagnosis and computer software for engine and transmission diagnosis Perform replacement of known failed auxiliary components, to include but not limited to: brakes, sensors, starters, alternators or hydraulic cylinders in a timely fashion without come- backs.Work will be subject to periodic auditsMay assist in training Tech 1’s or audit Preventive Maintenance InspectionsAssist with more complex repairs to include but not limited to Turbos and EGR Components, Fuel Filter Housings, Oil Thermostats/ Housings, Air Compressors or DifferentialsWear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when and where required.Report immediately any safety violations and correcting unsafe acts or conditions.Comply with company safety policies and with applicable state and federal regulations.May be required to drive a vehicle with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) not to exceed 26,000 pounds.Track time in accordance with company procedures.Maintain service truck readiness including safety equipment, tools, equipment, and cleanliness.Maintain repair order documentation to include repair description, parts and fluids used, and repair times.

Perform monthly inventories as required.Maintain a clean workspace.

Attend training sessions for continuing education.Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONSAt least one year of verifiable preventative maintenance experience or technical degree with demonstrated knowledge of maintenance on class 8 vehicles or DOT Inspector License (per 49 CFR – Part 396.19)Must possess own toolsFamiliarity with shop equipment and safety practicesExcellent written and verbal communication skills in EnglishBasic automotive knowledgeBasic understanding of oil sampling theory and practicesMechanical aptitude Demonstrated aptitude for maintaining and repairing equipmentAbility to read labels, safety warnings, and guidelinesAbility to learn basic computer skills to communicate document daily work and progress, track procurements and repair statusAbility to pay attention to detail and remain alert to ensure safetyAbility to understand and follow instructions and to communicate with co-workersAbility to function effectively in a fast-paced environment PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma or its equivalentClass B commercial driver’s licenseSafe driving for the last five years Formal training in preventive maintenance operationsAutomotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified or the ability to obtain certification REQUIRED LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONSValid Class C driver’s licenseSafe driving record for the past three yearsCurrent State Inspector License or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
