POSITION Substitute Paraprofessional

PAY RATE $15.00 Per Hour

Dedicated School Staffing is proud to support Black River Local Schools for the recruitment of substitute teaching opportunities. Special education aides/paraprofessionals play an important role in our schools by assisting students with special educational needs.

Responsibilities

Physically able to do work which requires standing for many hours.

Has health and temperament to successfully cope with children.

Presents subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of the teacher.

Ensures that students are never left unattended in the classroom.

Guide children in working and playing harmoniously with each other.

Keeps students safe and engaged.

Exhibits proper classroom management techniques.

Understands building and classroom policy and procedures.

Provides escort and assistance to children as necessary.

Helps maintain individual records for each child.

Documents lesson plans.

Maintains student records/performance.

Follows the Individualized Education Program (IEP) of the student.

Assists with preparation of materials for use in special education programs under the direction of classroom teachers.

Assist disabled children with daily living skills (i.e., feeding, toileting) vocational preparation, and mobility training as directed by the classroom teacher.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED.

Clean criminal background.

Three (3) positive professional references.

Experience working with special needs school aged children.

After Hire (Contingent)

Ohio Department of Education Educational Aide Permit ($25), or higher license.

FBI & BCI Background checks dated within 365 days of hire (Cost varies per agency).
