Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer III to join our Cloud Engineering team. This role will help design, build, support, and evolve our internal cloud platform, which functions as a self-service “vending machine” for internal technology services, with a strong emphasis on AWS-based solutions.

The ideal candidate will bring deep hands-on experience in cloud engineering, platform development, automation, and production support. This person will play a key role across three major areas: enhancing our internal platform capabilities, supporting and troubleshooting platform-related issues, and guiding development teams on cloud best practices for deploying and operating applications in the cloud.

To be successful in this role, you must be a strong technical contributor who is equally comfortable building cloud-native platform features, resolving complex operational issues, and partnering with application teams to improve their cloud adoption and engineering practices.

Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and enhance cloud-native platform features using an API-driven architecture .

Build and maintain backend services, API endpoints, and user-facing capabilities within the internal developer portal.

Develop scalable, modular, and reusable cloud platform components that enable self-service provisioning and management of internal services, especially AWS services.

Lead development and enhancements for AWS cloud platform capabilities, ensuring solutions are secure, efficient, and aligned with enterprise standards.

Partner with architecture, engineering, and product stakeholders to define technical solutions that meet business and developer needs.

Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve platform and application deployment issues through patching, remediation, temporary workarounds, or coordination with partner teams when needed.

Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, and AWS CDK .

Contribute to secure-by-design and automated compliance approaches for cloud infrastructure and platform services.

Experience and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

5+ years of hands-on experience in cloud engineering, software engineering, platform engineering, or infrastructure engineering.

Proven experience designing, developing, and supporting AWS-based cloud platforms and services.

Strong expertise in AWS core services, especially compute, storage, and networking .

Expert-level programming proficiency in Python or Node.js .

Hands-on experience building cloud-native solutions using API-driven architectures .

Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code, including CloudFormation, Terraform, and AWS CDK .

Solid understanding of CI/CD best practices with hands-on experience using GitHub Actions .

Experience troubleshooting cloud infrastructure, platform services, and deployment pipelines in production environments.

Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across engineering teams and support internal customers effectively.

Pay Philosophy : The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by several factors including skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. Some roles at MAPFRE are eligible for commission and/or bonus earnings, in addition to salary, calculated based upon factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Salary Range $110,000 - $155,000
