Job Purpose
The Performance Trainer is responsible for designing and delivering structured athletic performance programs with a focus on explosiveness, speed, strength, agility, injury prevention, and conditioning for youth basketball athletes. This individual will support player development by helping athletes move better, train smarter, and perform at higher levelswhile aligning with JustHoops mission, values, and player-first culture.
Duties and Responsibilities
Overall Responsibilities
Serve as a visible ambassador of the JustHoop brand, representing our mission with professionalism, energy, and integrity.
Design and lead dynamic warm-ups, speed/agility drills, strength training, and recovery sessions appropriate for various youth age groups.
Modify and scale workouts to meet the needs of athletes at different developmental stages.
Communicate regularly with basketball coaches and directors to align physical development goals with on-court performance.
Engage and educate athletes on proper movement mechanics, injury prevention, and recovery practices.
Create a safe, inclusive, and positive training environment that encourages growth, grit, and consistency.
Help cultivate a performance-driven culture rooted in discipline, humility, and long-term development.
Training Sessions
Prepare and execute high-quality workouts based on JustHoops performance methodology.
Track athlete progress and adapt programming to ensure continuous improvement and performance gains.
Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to motivate athletes.
Monitor form and technique to minimize injury risk.
Assist in building a consistent, positive performance culture that complements basketball skill development.
Facility & Session Support
Arrive early to set up training areas with equipment and ensure safety protocols are in place.
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and functionality of the training space.
Collaborate with JustHoop staff on scheduling and logistics.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; college coursework in kinesiology, sports science, or a related field preferred.
Certified in one or more of the following: NASM, NSCA, CSCS, USAW, ISSA, or similar.
Experience working with youth athletes in a performance or sports training capacity.
Passion for athletic development and youth mentorship.
Strong verbal communication and motivational skills.
High energy, positive attitude, and team-oriented mindset.
Basic understanding of basketball athletic demands preferred.
First Aid and CPR certification required.
Must pass a background check and complete child safety training.
Working Conditions
This role requires regular evening and weekend availability. Training takes place both indoors (facility court or weight room) and occasionally outdoors depending on programming. Travel and schedule flexibility are required.
Physical Requirements
Able to demonstrate movement patterns, exercises, and drills as needed.
Requires regular physical activity including lifting up to 50 pounds, dynamic movement, standing/walking for long periods.
Must be able to react quickly and remain composed in high-energy training settings.
