Job Title: Senior Full Stack Engineer – API & AI Modernization

Employment Type: W2-Contract role (40 hours per week)

Work Authorization: U.S. Citizenship is required due to federal government contract requirements.

Work Mode: Onsite in Rockville, MD (primary). Work may also be performed onsite at Washington, DC; New Carrollton, MD; Ogden, UT; or Farmers Branch, TX based on project needs.

Place of Performance: Rockville, MD.

Travel: Position requires willingness to travel to other U.S. work locations as needed

Position Overview:

The Senior Full Stack Engineer will serve as a technical lead supporting the Application Programming Interface program. This role involves hands-on API development, modernization of legacy systems, and secure integration of enterprise data sources to support client mission systems.

Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain secure APIs aligned with enterprise architecture standards.

Lead API versioning, governance, and backward compatibility efforts.

Integrate modern APIs with legacy systems and data sources.

Implement automated testing and CI/CD processes.

Support AI-enabled development workflows and secure automation tools.

Provide technical guidance to mid-level developers.

Document technical designs and support reporting requirements for review.

Experience Required:

Minimum of five (5) to eight (8) years of experience as a Full Stack Engineer supporting enterprise or federal IT environments.

Demonstrated expertise designing and developing REST, GraphQL, and/or gRPC APIs.

Strong backend development experience using Java, Python, Node.js, or similar technologies.

Experience integrating APIs with legacy systems, including exposure to COBOL-based services or mainframe environments.

Proven ability to implement OAuth, JWT, and secure authentication/authorization mechanisms.

Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift), and automated testing.

Ability to mentor developers and perform code reviews in secure environments.

Preferred Skills:

Experience supporting federal agency systems.

Familiarity with AWS GovCloud or other FedRAMP-authorized environments.

Experience with monitoring tools such as Datadog, New Relic, or Prometheus.

Prior involvement in modernization or legacy system replacement initiatives.

Relevant Certification (Preferred):

AWS, Azure, or Java professional certifications.

Educational Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
