What to Expect Tesla is looking for a highly skilled Structural Engineer or Designer to be part of the Building Infrastructure Engineering Team at Gigafactory 1. Help create and optimize the factory of the future by bringing conceptual designs to life, producing innovative detailed designs of factory structural systems that are fully integrated with manufacturing processes. This is a permanent, full-time position located in Sparks, NV.
What You'll Do
Support the design and construction of new projects and renovations to existing industrial, manufacturing, and office facilities
Coordinate structural design on multidisciplinary project teams including Mechanical, Electrical, Piping/Plumbing (MEP) professionals
Conduct structural analysis and design of concrete and steel structures, including seismic design and justifying structural calculations
Design and develop structural engineering solutions for existing building structure retrofits, design of equipment anchorages and assessment of existing site conditions
Conduct structural design and analysis using discipline-specific programs such as RISA-2D, RISA-3D, Mathcad, and ETABS
Manage high-quality BIM (Revit) models, develop 3D engineering designs in Revit, and prepare plan drawings, section/elevations, and installation details for permit and construction
Working knowledge of US building codes and structural design standards What You'll Bring
Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or equivalent experience
2+ years of experience in structural design of commercial, industrial, or oil & gas industries
Registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) in Civil/Structural with active NCEES record
Expert knowledge of Revit MEP and proficiency with AutoCAD, Navisworks, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite
Working knowledge of US building codes and structural design standards
Ability to work independently to troubleshoot unexpected conditions identified during construction; and a willingness to work overtime to meet deadlines
Able to multi-task and be flexible/adapt to rapidly changing project requirements/timelines
Self-directed, highly motivated self-starter with solid writing and verbal communication skills
Experience in structural design of buildings for high-tech infrastructure, industrial, or operational facilities (semiconductor, solar, battery, etc.). Familiarity with seismic design preferred
Familiarity with relevant structural and construction codes, regulations, practices, and record-keeping requirements
