Job Description:

TITLE: Lab Assistant

DEPARTMENT: Chemistry

SUPERVISOR: Samuel Conduah

SSTA Approver: Samuel Conduah

SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday daytime hours (flexible hours)

POSITION LEVEL: Non-Supervisory

General Statement of Duties:

The Student lab Assistant works directly under the Supervision of the Technical Assistant to the Chemistry Department and would be assigned responsibilities working in any of our Lab spaces in the Department. The working hours are generally during normal business hours in the Day.

Responsibilities:

Washing of glassware/dishes

Stocking up the labs with Lab supplies

Cleaning the lab Benches and gutters in all the labs

Preparing Lab stock solutions under the supervision of the Technical Assistant to the Department

Keeping the lab spaces the glass room organized and free of clutter.

Organizing the Stockroom under the directive of the Technical Assistant.

Cleaning up the hoods on a regular basis.

Other responsibilities as needed by your supervisor would be assigned.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

A Student Lab Assistant has to be a Worcester State University student in good academic standing with a registered full or part time status, preferably in Chemistry. Other science disciplines would be considered with Lab work experience.
