Brick Mason

Description:

The Brick Mason will construct and repair structures and surfaces using bricks, concrete blocks, and natural or man-made stones. This role involves building walls, floors, arches, pavements, partitions, and other structures with precision and attention to detail. We are seeking an experienced candidate with a proven background in ensuring accuracy, structural integrity, and high-quality finishes while working with both hand and power tools. Candidates must be willing to become signatory to the Brick Masons Union if not already a member.

Typical Duties:

Lay bricks, concrete blocks, stone, and other materials to construct or repair walls, partitions, arches and similar structures

Use trowels, levels, plumb bobs, hammers, chisels, and other hand tools to construct and finish structures

Measure, cut and shape bricks or blocks to fit required dimensions

Mix mortar or grout and spread it with a trowel

Clean and prepare surfaces for bricklaying by removing debris and leveling surfaces

Build scaffolding or temporary structures to provide safe working conditions

May use power grinders or hammer and chisel to remove rough spots or repair defective areas

Follow safety procedures, which may include wearing respirators, eye protection and other personal protective equipment
