Canada Dry, a member of the Honickman Companies, has an exciting opportunity for a Fleet Mechanic to join our team at our Landover, MD facility. A leader in the beverage industry, we are seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented team player who is committed to the success of our customers.

Pay Rate: $32.61 per hour

Position Summary

The Fleet Mechanic First Class is responsible for performing a wide variety of repair, maintenance, and diagnostic tasks within the Fleet Maintenance Department. This role ensures that company vehicles and equipment are kept in safe, reliable, and efficient operating condition.

Key Responsibilities

The following responsibilities are general duties that may be required of this position. Actual duties may vary.

Diagnose and repair mechanical issues related to automotive and diesel engines, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment.

Perform preventative maintenance and assigned repairs on driveline components.

Complete brake and axle repairs, engine diagnostics, electrical work, welding, safety inspections, and routine maintenance.

Inspect and adjust protective guards and safety devices on equipment.

Read and interpret Vehicle Condition Reports (VCRs) and repair orders; communicate with supervisors and drivers to clarify issues and suggest preventive techniques.

Respond to emergency road calls to repair trucks as needed.

Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

Accurately complete repair orders and required documentation.

Maintain open communication with managers and employees regarding equipment status.

Provide safe and reliable vehicles to company drivers.

Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Experience, Education, and Certification

High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Minimum 2 years of experience in truck diesel and auto repair within a dealership or fleet environment.

Valid Driver's License required.

Demonstrated experience diagnosing and correcting mechanical problems related to automotive/diesel repair, forklift/pallet jack repair, and preventative maintenance.

Mechanical or trade school certification preferred.

Certifications in electronic diagnostics and ASE certification preferred.

Tools & Equipment

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including dust mask, earplugs, gloves, hard hat, respirator, safety glasses, work boots, and safety vest.

Hand tools (hammer, pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, etc.) and power tools.

Equipment such as jacks/stands, forklifts, pallet jacks, and vehicles (automotive and diesel).

Working Conditions

The Fleet Mechanic First Class works primarily in a shop environment with exposure to heavy equipment, machinery, tools, chemicals, solvents, dust, and fumes. Work may be performed both indoors and outdoors.
