Job Title: Part-Time R&D Lab Technician
Department: Research & Development
Reports To: R&D Manager / Food Scientist
Location: Eugene, Oregon
Position Summary
The R&D Lab Technician supports the Research & Development team by preparing samples, executing lab trials, maintaining lab organization, and accurately documenting results. This is a hands-on role focused on supporting new product development while following food safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare R&D samples according to formulas and test plans
Accurately weigh and measure ingredients using laboratory scales
Assist with lab trials, product testing, and sensory evaluations
Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe R&D lab
Wash, sanitize, and store lab equipment and tools
Manage ingredient inventory, labeling, and storage
Record formulations, weights, observations, and results clearly
Follow GMPs, food safety, and sanitation procedures
Support sample preparation for internal reviews or customer presentations Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
1-3 years of experience in a food, lab, or manufacturing environment preferred
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written instructions
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds Preferred
Degree or coursework in Food Science or a related field
Experience with frozen desserts or dairy products
Familiarity with GMPs or food safety programs Work Environment
R&D lab and production-adjacent areas
Exposure to cold environments (freezers)
Requires use of appropriate PPE
