Responsibilities
• Data Input: Accurately enter patient demographic information, medical histories, and billing information into Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and databases.
• Data Integrity: Verify and audit data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
• Billing Support: Assist with administrative tasks related to billing, including entering insurance details.
• Confidentiality: Adhere strictly to data privacy protocols and maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Administrative Support: Perform general clerical duties such as answering phones, managing faxes, and generating reports or summaries for audits and quality assurance.
Qualifications
• Experience: Proven experience in data entry, preferably in a medical or healthcare setting, is a major plus.
• Typing Skills: Excellent typing speed and accuracy (e.g., at least 45 WPM) are crucial for the role.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and familiarity with data entry software and database management systems.
• Domain Knowledge: Knowledge of medical terminology and an understanding of healthcare procedures and HIPAA regulations are essential.
• Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy to ensure data integrity.
• Soft Skills: Strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally.
• Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required; additional certification in medical billing or health information technology can be beneficial.
