Amae Health is a Series B, venture-backed Public Benefit Corporation that delivers specialty outpatient care for people with severe mental illness. We build and operate high-acuity, in-person clinics nationally.
Our model integrates psychiatry, therapy, primary care, dietitians, and community support under one roof. It has proven itself as the most effective in the country, which is why we collaborate with leading health systems including NewYork-Presbyterian, Cedars-Sinai, Mass General Brigham, Novant Health, and CommonSpirit to extend our care to where it's needed most.
But what makes us fundamentally different is that we are also building the science and technology layer that this field has never had. We are developing proprietary clinical protocols, designing novel measurement science, and engineering an AI data science platform purpose-built for the complexity of severe mental illness. Every patient interaction generates data that feeds back into our protocols, our technology, and our understanding of what actually works.

The Team:

The Role:
The Strategy & Operations team at Amae plays a critical role in driving the programs and systems that support delivery of excellent care to individuals with severe mental illness. The Strategy & Operations function is accountable for driving initiatives across a variety of business needs, including new market and service launches, business intelligence, and operational excellence. Highly cross-functional, this role will work across a diverse range of teams and functions at Amae health, leveraging complex problem solving skills in a growth oriented organization.
What You Will Work On:
Program Development & Operational ExcellenceOwn the creation, rollout, and ongoing refinement of projects that support day-to-day behavioral health delivery. Build structured workflows, playbooks, and feedback loops that ensure teams have what they need to provide consistent, high-quality care. Partner with clinical and operational leaders to identify bottlenecks and gaps, then design solutions that scale across markets.
Program Evaluation & Continuous ImprovementUse data, user feedback, and operational insights to evaluate program performance and identify opportunities for improvement. Translate findings into structured improvement initiatives, complete with project plans, clear owners, and measurable outcomes. Institutionalize improvements by integrating them into standard operating procedures, training materials, and core systems.
Cross-Functional Execution & Change ManagementDrive alignment across clinical, operations, product, and leadership teams to ensure programs are implemented smoothly and sustainably. Lead communication, training, and rollout plans for new initiatives, helping teams adopt new processes with clarity and confidence.
About You:
You are an operator who thrives in high-growth environments and can lead through change. You know what "good" looks like, what makes the business tick, and take pride in driving systems and programs that provide care that exceeds expectations. You're results-oriented, have experience defining and developing initiatives from the ground up, and are adept at navigating the ambiguity that comes with an early stage startup. High EQ and low ego, you are equally at ease influencing, leading, or doing, and enjoy working with a team that does the same. What You'll Have:
Experience in private equity, consulting, investment banking, venture capital, or healthcare organization, leading projects from ideation to execution
Scrappy, self-starter mindset who vigorously looks for ways to grow an early-stage company
Proven experience structuring and leading projects to drive successful outcomes
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
Experience in a startup and/or entrepreneurial environment, with ability to thrive in a fast-paced culture, growing 0-1
Passion and interest for the mental health space
Bachelor's Degree Required
This role is located in San Francisco in office 5 days a week

Amae Health is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.
Compensation includes a base salary of $125,000 to $185,000 (based on level & experience) plus equity ownership, giving you a meaningful stake in Amae's growth.
The Problem
Severe mental illness affects over 15 million adults in the United States. Schizophrenia. Schizoaffective disorder. Bipolar I. Treatment-resistant depression. These are the conditions the rest of healthcare has systematically failed to build for.
The result is fragmented care, revolving-door hospitalizations, misaligned incentives, and a population that falls through every crack in the system. Emergency departments become the default. Families burn out. People die decades earlier than they should.
What makes this problem different from most of healthcare is that the tools to solve it do not exist. The clinical protocols, the measurement science, the precision medicine, the technology to deliver coordinated longitudinal outpatient care for this population. None of it has been built. This is a frontier problem, and it requires frontier science and care delivery to solve.
