Job Description

Summary: The Master Data Manager establishes and governs the processes, policies and standards for maintaining accurate, consistent and reliable master data across the company’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and other systems. This senior level role plays a key role in implementing best practices and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Master Data Manager leads data maintenance-related projects and data maintenance strategies, oversees data quality monitoring, data cleansing, training staff and coordinates with business units to ensure master data supports operational efficiency and strategic goals. Functions & Key Responsibilities: Team Leadership Lead, coach and develop a team of Master Data Specialists to foster growth and high performance, providing guidance, training and performance feedback. Manage Data Operations Oversee the day-to-day creation, updates, and deletions of master data within the ERP system, ensuring it is timely and accurate. Project Management for Data-Related Projects Manage and facilitate data cleansing efforts, especially during ERP implementations or migrations, and coordinate the creation and maintenance of master data. Data Governance and Strategy Develop and implement comprehensive data governance policies and strategies to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of master data. Establish and enforce data standards, guidelines, and best practices across the organization. Data Analysis and Reporting Conduct in-depth analysis of master data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement. Develop and deliver reports and dashboards to provide insights into data quality and integrity. Continuous Improvement Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline data management processes and enhance data quality. Identify and implement tools and technologies to support efficient data management and governance. Cross Functional Collaboration Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, finance, operations, and sales, to ensure alignment with business objectives and data requirements. Act as a liaison between business units and IT to address data-related issues and ensure effective data integration. Compliance and Risk Management Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements related to data management. Mitigate risks associated with data inaccuracies and inconsistencies through proactive monitoring and intervention. Stakeholder Engagement Engage with senior leadership and stakeholders to communicate data governance strategies and initiatives. Provide expertise and support in data-related decision-making processes. Functional & Technical Skills: Demonstrates strategic leadership by setting clear goals and guiding the team towards achieving those goals. Ability to define and enforce data policies, roles and procedures for managing master data across the organization. Clear understanding of how to define the structure and relationships of master data elements to ensure consistency and facilitate data sharing. Expertise in integrating master data from various sources into a central repository to create a unique record and ensure a single source of truth. Skills in implementing processes and tools for data cleansing, standardization, validation and the correction of errors and inconsistencies. Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills. Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and persuade stakeholders at all levels. Proven experience in leading and developing data management teams. Ability to foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in information management, Data Science, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. 5-7 years of experience in data management, data governance, or a related role, with demonstrated success in managing master data. Proficiency in data management tools and technologies, such as SQL, SAP, Oracle, or similar systems. English proficiency (B2+ level or higher) Strong Excel skills, with the ability to analyze data and generate reports. Proficiency in ERP (SAP preferred) Certifications in data management, analytics or specific ERP systems are a plus.
