COBOL Developer – iSeries / Mainframe

Locations: Columbus, OH Alpharetta, GA Lincoln, NE Frisco, TX

Employment: W2 – H1B Transfer Available/NO C2C

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced COBOL Developer with strong hands-on coding experience to work on a non-z/OS mainframe project. This role is focused on iSeries (AS400) platforms.

Candidates with traditional COBOL mainframe backgrounds are welcome and will be trained on iSeries.

Skills:

8–10 years of relevant application development experience

Strong hands-on COBOL development

Must be coding 70–80% of the time

Experience with iSeries (AS400) preferred

Experience with Unisys or other non-z/OS mainframes is a plus

z/OS experience alone is not sufficient

Awareness that this project does NOT use z/OS

Experience with Agile methodologies (mandatory)

Solid understanding of:Software design patterns, Data modeling,SOLID principles

Knowledge of test-driven development (TDD) and automated testing

Tools such as UFT, Postman, Selenium (basic testing skills acceptable)

Ability to resolve architectural challenges related to: Scalability,Performance,Reliability,Usability,Security

Strong understanding of software–hardware interaction

Nice-to-Have Skills:

Experience with C programming

Familiarity with GIT or similar source control tools

Financial services or banking domain experience
