Sr. Java Developer (DevOps & Resiliency)

Our client is hiring a Sr. Java Developer (DevOps & Resiliency) on a long-term contract basis.

Work Location: Jersey City, New Jersey

Work Model: Hybrid

Responsibilities:

Backend core java development on a distributed & message-oriented OTC post trade processing and clearing system.

Lead disaster recovery test for a critical application by planning, procuring infrastructure and ensuring resiliency

Assist in the global rollout of the OTC Clearing platform.

Working with developers and analysts in New York & Pune teams.

Level 3 support for production issues

Strong adherence to development standards and principles.

Participate in requirements analysis & prioritization by working closely with PM, BA and product development teams.

Liaise with Primary Support staff to ensure successful operation of functionality post release.

Applying an understanding of Futures and OTC financial products to the full development lifecycle

Ownership of relationships with internal teams supplying some of the technology/solutions for Futures

Required Qualifications:

Proven track record of complex, real-time, multi-tier solution development.

Experience on Middle office STP platforms

Detailed level knowledge (product/contract level) in Futures, Equities or Fixed Income markets.

In-depth knowledge and experience of the OTC business from Trading through to Settlement and Clearing a plus.

Has evidence of commitment to process improvement & client service.

Must be able to understand user requirements and provide roadmaps and plans to achieve desired solutions.

Core Development: 10+ years of expert-level experience in both Java (using Spring in a Linux environment) and SQL/RDBMS.

Architecture: Strong working knowledge of message-oriented, event-driven, multi-threaded services with a focus on high throughput and low latency.

Related Technologies: Knowledge of Oracle, Apache Kafka, Docker, OpenShift, or similar technologies is a plus.

Industry Standards: Strong knowledge of FpML standards is preferred.

Infrastructure Management: Ability to procure, set up, and deploy applications on new infrastructure.

Business Continuity: Proven ability to prepare, coordinate, and execute disaster recovery (DR) tests.

Problem-Solving & Adaptability: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly learn complex systems, challenge processes, and adapt to new requirements and tight deadlines.

Ownership & Autonomy: Demonstrated ability to work independently, multi-task, take ownership of deliverables, and drive strategy.

Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills with a proven ability to facilitate technical discussions.

Bachelors or above in Computer Science or related discipline
