Job Standards Department: The Office of Public Utilities Division: Water Engineering Final Date to Apply: 12/29/2025 at 11:00 PM CST, Open to all applicants Work Location: CWLP 11th & Mason Street Starting Salary: $25.44 Engineer Technician I $27.83 Engineer Technician II Union: IBEW Local #193 Work Hours: Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

(hours may vary) In this role you will: * Prepare working drawings and estimates for water system improvements, both new and construction and renewal/replacement projects, in a time and accurate manner under immediate supervision.

* Responsible for record keeping duties for system components and additions, including GIS mapping updates.

* Perform construction observation, field surveying, hydrant flow test and water sampling.

* Prepare GIS maps, CAD plan sheets and other exhibits as required.

* Communicate clearly and accurately both orally and written with engineering staff.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess knowledge, skills, and mental development equivalent to the completion of four years of high school and two years of technical experience in the engineering field.

Under immediate supervision, the candidate will perform basic assignments including preparing working drawings from rough drafts or notes, preparing cost estimates, operating surveying equipment and completing related mathematical computations, conducting basic inspections and investigations, performing field tests, water sampling, and GIS field data collection, and assisting with other assigned projects.

A valid Illinois Class "D" driver's license is required.

Preference for employment in all positions with the city shall be given to applicants who are full-time city residents.
