The State Accounting Office (SAO) provides accounting and financial reporting expertise for the State and is statutorily responsible for statewide financial reporting. The SAO also provides enterprise oversight and management of the State's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, accounting policy development, financial business process improvement recommendations, and management of the payroll and accounting shared service centers.
Position Description:
This position focuses on Workday system integration and optimization, covering HCM, Payroll, Finance, and Procurement. The incumbent will work with teams to enhance the system, translate business needs into technical solutions, and implement new Workday features and integrations. Maintaining system efficiency and scalability is essential. Incumbent will also develop, test, maintain, and troubleshoot software, document processes, and create secure code based on business requirements.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and deploy Workday integrations and customizations to meet business needs
Configure and manage core Workday modules (HCM, Payroll, Finance, etc.) for optimal performance
Create and maintain robust Workday integrations utilizing Studio, EIBs, and other relevant tools
Partner with stakeholders to gather, analyze, and translate business requirements into actionable technical specifications
Apply expert knowledge of Workday development tools and technologies to deliver high-quality, efficient, and maintainable code
Stay current with Workday updates and best practices to ensure system optimization
Maintain data accuracy and adhere to strict security protocols in all code and system configurations
Resolve system issues promptly, meet project deadlines, and proactively implement system enhancements
Communicate effectively with stakeholders and team members, providing clear and concise documentation and fostering a collaborative team environment
Skills and Competencies:
Excellent analytical and critical thinking abilities
Expertise in Workday Extend development
In-depth knowledge of Workday security protocols and role-based access controls
Proficient in Workday Studio, EIB, XML, XSLT, and Web Services (REST, SOAP) for integration development
Skilled in troubleshooting Workday integrations, including monitoring and resolving integration errors
Strong background in API development and integration strategies
Proactive in identifying and resolving data discrepancies
Exceptional interpersonal and project management skills, with the ability to collaborate with third-party vendors and internal teams
Superior communication and influencing skills, adept at engaging stakeholders across all levels, from senior leadership to end-users
Proficiency in key Workday modules such as HCM, Payroll, and Finance
Solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
Strong debugging and troubleshooting capabilities
Highly analytical with excellent problem-solving skills
Minimum Qualifications:
This position will be filled at a level commensurate with the selectee's education and experience at one of the following levels:
Developer 2 - ITP091
Pay Grade: N
Salary range: $62,331.12 - $81,955.29
High school diploma/GED and (2) years of related experience.
Developer 3 - ITP092
Pay Grade: O
Salary range: $69,134.16 - $91,309.47
High school diploma/GED and (3) years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in agile product development frameworks and a strong understanding of the product lifecycle from ideation to launch
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven track record of successfully navigating complex technical challenges and driving meaningful solutions
Minimum 5+ years expert level experience in Workday tools and technologies, including Workday integrations, Web Services, WorkdayStudio, SOAP, REST API, SQL, EIB, RaaS, Cloud Connect, Workday Extend etc
Workday module certifications preferred (e.g. WorkdayPro, Integration)
Knowledge of business processes and best practices, and a passion for aligning technology solutions to business goals and user needs
Data-driven approach to decision-making, with the ability to analyze platform usage, measure impact, and translate insights into action
