As a Senior BAS Programmer, you will be working in our service division, as an employee of Kelso Building Services.
About This Role
As a Building Automation Programmer you will design, program and assist in the maintenance of advanced building automation systems which optimize HVAC performance and reduce energy consumption ensuring customer expectations are exceeded. This role combines fieldwork, engineering, programming, and customer support to deliver innovative solutions which reduce energy consumption and maintain building comfort.
*This role will be worked in the field at client sites. Company vehicle and gas card are provided.
What You'll Do
Engineering & Programming: Lead the design, programming, and integration of Building Automation Systems (BAS) across diverse platforms—including Tridium Niagara, Johnson Controls, and Honeywell. Ensure systems are optimized to achieve energy efficiency, occupant comfort, and operational excellence.
System Commissioning: Manage the full lifecycle of HVAC control system commissioning, including start-up, functional testing, calibration, and troubleshooting. Systems include rooftop units (RTUs), variable air volume (VAV) systems, boilers, chillers, and other critical infrastructure.
Customer Support & Training: Deliver expert-level technical support and hands-on training to clients, facility operators, and internal technicians. Provide ongoing maintenance guidance to ensure long-term system performance and client satisfaction.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with project managers, HVAC service teams, and third-party contractors to coordinate installations, streamline workflows, and implement innovative energy-saving strategies tailored to each facility's needs.
What You'll Bring
4+ years building automation controls experience
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Niagara N4 Honeywell certification
Valid driver's license and willingness to commute to various client sites in the Greater Phoenix area
Strong troubleshooting, programming and ability to read mechanical/electrical schematics
Excellent communication and customer service mindset
Experience with fault detection, data analytics, equipment sequencing and or healthcare facility systems
Proven track record of managing or supporting BAS/DDC projects from design to completion, including interpreting control drawings, wiring diagrams, and sequence of operations
Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams (e.g., engineers, facility managers, contractors) to deliver energy-efficient solutions
