Position Summary:
Renegade Process Controls is seeking a highly skilled Programmer with a strong background in electrical engineering and automation to support operations in gas processing facilities. The ideal candidate will be proficient in working within Linux-based environments and have extensive experience with programming languages used for industrial control, instrumentation, and electrical system design. This role involves close collaboration with engineers and field technicians to develop, troubleshoot, and optimize control systems and automation processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, test, and maintain software for process automation, instrumentation control, and electrical system integration.
Work within Linux environments to deploy and manage control system applications.
Write and maintain code in programming languages relevant to electrical engineering and industrial automation (e.g., Python, C/C++, ladder logic, structured text, or IEC 61131-3).
Collaborate with electrical engineers and field technicians to implement control logic for instrumentation devices and electrical equipment.
Troubleshoot and optimize code for real-time systems used in gas plant operations.
Interface with PLCs, RTUs, SCADA systems, and other field devices.
Design software solutions that meet safety, reliability, and compliance requirements in industrial environments.
Document programming and system design work in line with company standards and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
At least 2-4 years of experience
Extensive experience with Linux systems and command-line tools.
Strong proficiency in at least two of the following: Python, C/C++, Java, Structured Text, Ladder Logic, or other automation-specific languages.
Solid understanding of electrical engineering principles and industrial control systems.
Experience working with PLCs, SCADA, and field instrumentation in gas or industrial facilities.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, control diagrams, and P&IDs.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to work well with engineers and technicians in the field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in oil & gas or process automation environments.
Familiarity with Modbus, OPC, MQTT, and industrial networking protocols.
Knowledge of safety systems and industrial cybersecurity best practices.
Background in electrical design tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN) is a plus.Company Description
