Job Title: Full-time Chef
Salary: $79,000 plus superannuation
Duties and Skills
• Maintain high standards of food presentation and monitor dish quality throughout all stages of preparation and service.
• Introduce special items and estimating food and labour costs to support efficient kitchen operations.
• Operate and regulate ovens, grills, fryers, and tandoor ovens, ensuring correct temperatures and cooking times are followed for optimal results.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and hygiene standards as per Australian Food Standards Code and ensure all food handling practices are compliant.
• Supervise and support cook and junior kitchen staff, contributing to their training and ensuring a smooth kitchen workflow.
• Monitor and manage stock levels, order supplies, and ensure proper storage and rotation of ingredients.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations and kitchen equipment, ensuring compliance with WHS and OH&S standards.
• Liaise with the restaurant’s management team to ensure service consistency and to support operational goals.
• Assist in the coordination of kitchen activities to ensure timely and quality food service during peak hours.
• Collaborate with the cook and kitchen team to develop new dishes and refine existing recipes in line with customer preferences and seasonal ingredients.
• Prepare and cook a variety of Australian and Indian fusion dishes in line with café standards
Required Skills
• Possess excellent relevant post-secondary hospitality (cooking) qualifications, to at least Diploma level.
• Have at least 1 year professional experience or more.
• Are available across the working week including weekends and Public Holidays.
• Offer proven ability to prioritise, set goals and have the determination to achieve them.
• Possess a thorough understanding of food safety and HACCP.
• Understand cost control, time management, prioritization, and cost-efficient procurement practices.
• Passion for developing innovative menu items.
• Able to cook continentals and Indian fusion especially Bar Menu
• Strict compliance towards food safety
