Medical Coder Level 2 (Long-Term Contract)
Location: Government Facility - Columbus, OH
Pay Rate: $22-23 per hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Job Summary
We're looking for an experienced Medical Coder Level 2 to support a government healthcare program in Columbus, Ohio. This role focuses on reviewing and applying medical codes accurately, following state and federal rules, and helping ensure coding policies are used correctly across the agency.
You'll work under general supervision and serve as a coding resource for ICD, CPT, and HCPCS questions, helping maintain accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
What You'll Do (In Simple Terms)
Review medical records and assign the correct ICD, CPT, and HCPCS codes
Help monitor and review coding reports to make sure codes are used correctly
Support and follow coding policies, procedures, and government regulations
Help identify and resolve coding errors or discrepancies
Work with others to ensure coding is accurate and consistent
Assist with maintaining coding guidelines and best practices
Prepare clear reports and keep accurate records
Serve as a technical resource for medical coding questions
Required Experience & Education
3-4 years of medical coding experience
One or more of the following credentials:
CPC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, or RHIA
Degree or certification in Health Information Management or Medical Coding
Certifications & Membership
Must hold active coding certification
Must maintain membership and active participation with:
AAPC or AHIMA
Skills & Knowledge Needed
Strong understanding of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and healthcare processes
Familiarity with healthcare laws, regulations, and compliance standards
Comfortable using computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Ability to analyze data, solve problems, and communicate clearly
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
