The Chief Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Engineering Department including, but not limited to, preventative maintenance, training, trouble calls, This position is essentially the second in charge under the Director of Engineering. They will be the highly technically sound person in the department with solid communication and proven organizational skills. Administrative duties will include: documentation protocols for all plant equipment, organizing and prioritizing work, building automation systems, lighting control systems and assisting the director of engineering with time and attendance management by communicating and documentation. This person will also assist the Director of Engineering in the professional development, improving standard operating protocols and procedures. Must be well versed in all technical areas of engineering, have the genuine desire to help others, and be a proven leader/role model who conducts business with a high sense of honesty and integrity. Must have a "can-do" attitude with self-driven initiative and the desire to do things right the first time to be able to assess, prioritize and organize while maintaining attention to detail. Must be focused on goal accomplishments and timely completion. Communication skills are open, articulate, constructive and effective.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential:
3-5 years in a leadership role as a Facilities Engineer, preferably in a similar (hospitality, lodging, food service, spa) environment.
Strong knowledge of electrical and electronic circuits and systems.
Strong knowledge of boiler and gas systems.
Strong knowledge of hydronic systems.
Strong knowledge of package A/C systems and refrigeration.
Solid troubleshooting skills in HVAC, electrical and mechanical systems.
Must be a "certified pool operator" by the National Swimming Pool Foundation.
Computer literate with knowledge of Word, Excel, HotSos (or similar), and building automation systems.
Proven "Change Manager" able to recognize and develop systems and processes to improve department effectiveness.
Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
Ability to delegate successfully.
Ability to communicate effectively with other departments to schedule work.
Ability to keep all departments apprised of work progress.
Ability to supervise skilled employees.
Strong attention to detail.

Responsible for professional development and establishing and improving operating protocols and procedures.
Responsible for coordinating and scheduling with outside contractors and communicating with the Director of Engineering, Front desk and Housekeeping of the status of projects and repairs in rooms and public spaces.
Responsible for assisting in implementing the policies from the Associate Handbook and new policies and procedures as directed by the Human Resources, IT department and the Director of Engineering.
Being a leader in team building and communication within the engineering department and all other departments on property.
Responsible for monitoring the safety of the engineering department in accord with Lost Prevention and OSHA standards. Will report any unsafe working practices, equipment or policies to ensure the safe working environment for all OVI team members.
Responsible for implementing and maintaining the INN CARE program. Communication and coordinating with the appropriate departments to ensure complete coverage of the property as laid at in the program details.
