Job Overview
This is primarily a Python, and SQL Server data-engineering role. You'll work with various business areas, such as trading, operations, finance, fund servicing/administration, compliance, business intelligence. You'll work with technology leaders, generating new ideas to support, maintain, improve, and modernize the business and technology. We work from high-level requests and requirements, and developers are expected to have a deep understanding of the business and its needs. We strive for an environment where people have the autonomy to pursue technical solutions without arbitrary constraints. A growth/learning mindset to continuously improve our techniques and tools is critical.
Experience working in asset management, hedge fund, broker/dealer, investment company, or a similar financial company is required, as is several years' experience in a heavily Python/Pandas/SQL environment building data solutions. You'll ensure project status is transparent and up-to-date, documentation is created and maintained, and knowledge transfer occurs in a timely fashion. Experience with Azure DevOps (CI/CD) is important.

• Perform development duties using the following requirements:
o Work in an Agile environment in Azure DevOps (Pipelines, GitHub, Boards, Wiki, Test Plans, etc.).
o Microsoft SQL Server
• Python
o Deep experience with Pythonic idioms.
o Experience with packages: Pandas, Numpy, SqlAlchemy, SciKitLearn, MatPlotlib, Requests, BeautifulSoup, Openpyxl, and Pydantic among others is required.
o Able to assess functional programming vs. object-oriented paradigms as best fit for a solution.
o Experience building APIs with FastAPI and/or Flask.
o Agility with transforming data to and from formats such as Excel, CSV, JSON, XML, Parquet, SQL, and YAML
o Virtual environments, notebooks, structuring code in packages and modules, unit testing are all essential to the role as well.
• Tidal as an enterprise scheduler, but UC4, Autosys, ActiveBatch, etc., will suffice.
• Experience with at least one market data provider, such as Bloomberg, FactSet, Refinitiv, MarkIT, etc.
• Prefer 5 days in-office in Hartford, CT.
Desired Experience
• A background in VB.NET to the extent of being able to read code is strongly desired.
• Experience with the following is preferred, but not mandatory: Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Automate, etc.).
• Django, Flask, and/or Tkinter experience a plus, but not mandatory.
• Cloud and NoSQL database experience also a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, related discipline, or equivalent experience.
