POSITION DETAILS
Position Summary
The Sr. Stress Engineer supports the Stress effort of Fluid Controls and Actuation Products under Sr. Principal Engineer and/or Sr. Engineering Manager.
This position requires interactions with other engineering associates, suppliers, and applicable departmental assignees (production, sales, quality, program management, etc.) in Concurrent Engineering environment to develop producible and economical Stress solutions.
Hands-on participation in the test laboratory and related Stress calculations, analysis etc
Principal Activities
Develops conceptual and detailed Stress for Fluid Controls and Actuation Products.
Stresss highly engineered complex/challenging products according to internal and external requirements using best engineering practices.
Supports technical decisions and direction for given project.
Provides technical support for legacy products.
Executes the work in accordance with good engineering practices to ensure a technically compliant and safe product that meets all applicable standards and statutory directives that apply to our industry and type of product.
Supports in the technical writing, development and execution of engineering documentation such as but not limited to Test Procedures and/or Test Reports.
Provides sales and commercial support appropriate at all stages of the product lifecycle.
Experience with NASTRAN is an advantage
Accountable for the development, analysis and test of assigned products/projects.
Supports production product troubleshooting, drawing updates and MRB activities.
Makes informed decisions on Stress with the use of scientific mathematical analysis.
Provides training and training material for engineering team.
Mentors others and supports growth of the engineering team.
Continuously improves technical know-how by reviewing technical publications, attending workshops, and participating in technical trainings.
Job Requirements:
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Experience:
Experience in the Stress and development of Hydraulic and/or pneumatic products.
Familiarity with DFMEA, VAVE, DFM, DVP&R, CM and Risk Assessment.
Expert in GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
Hydraulic/Pneumatic component/system sizing experience required.
Basic stress and flow analysis (classical and/or advanced tools).
Experience with Stressing Hydraulic/Pneumatic test set-ups and test fixtures.
Familiarity with MIL-STD-810 & RTCA-DO-160(preferred).
Knowledge of aerospace materials (metals, plastics, elastomers), manufacturing processes & post processing.
Education & Experience
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering, and 10 years of relevant experience.
