Contract Duration: 3-6 months

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in Oracle (particularly older versions) and Microsoft SQL Server for a short-term project.

The primary responsibility of this role is to support and lead the migration of a legacy database from Oracle 8 to SQL Server. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database management, query optimization, data migration, and scripting with a focus on ensuring data integrity and system reliability. Experience with MongoDB is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, script, and test the migration of a legacy database from Oracle to SQL Server, ensuring data accuracy.

Work with development to draft the schema design, index optimization, and query tuning for the new database.

Document migration processes, configurations, changes, and best practices for future reference.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator with hands-on expertise in Oracle and SQL Server.

Proven experience in migrating databases from Oracle to SQL Server, including schema refactoring and data type mapping.

Strong knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, and T-SQL for writing and optimizing complex queries and stored procedures.

Experience with query optimization and indexing in Oracle and SQL Server environments.

Strong communication skills to document processes effectively and collaborate with a cross-functional team.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Quest TOAD for working with Oracle.

Experience with PowerShell for automation tasks.

Experience with MongoDB is a plus.Requirements:
