We are seeking a dynamic, professional cook to join our team at Union Bluff Hotel and Meeting House. This is a full-time position located in York, ME. This role requires individuals who are detail-oriented, proactive, experienced in a high-volume restaurant, and committed to upholding our high standards of guest satisfaction, cleanliness, and service.
Work Performed
We are seeking a talented and experienced cook to join our team at Union Bluff Hotel and Meeting House. As a key member of our culinary team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our high-volume restaurant. The ideal candidate is a passionate and skilled chef with a proven track record in a fast-paced kitchen environment and upholds kitchen standards.
Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating
Assist the Executive Chef in managing the kitchen staff, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations
Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency
Ensure compliance with all food safety and sanitation regulations
Collaborate with the Executive Chef in developing new menu items and seasonal specials
Assist in menu planning and costing
Manage inventory levels and place orders for supplies and ingredients
Conduct regular inventory counts and analyze food costs
Lead and motivate the kitchen team to achieve operational goals
Provide training and development opportunities for staff members
Resolve any staffing issues or conflicts promptly
Assist in controlling food and labor costs
Monitor and manage the kitchen budget
Prepares food for banquets as specified by function contracts
Keep workstations and equipment clean, organized, and in good working order
Assist any station as needed
Perform any other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
2 or more full years of high volume restaurant experience in a related position
Must be able to work onsite at the hotel location
Strong culinary skills and knowledge of various cooking techniques
ServSafe Certification
Hours required: Full time hours per week for various shifts
Knowledge of kitchen and restaurant safety and emergency procedures
Ability to work well with others (i.e. interacts appropriately with guests and staff)
Ability to follow instructions, complete tasks safely and efficiently, and communicate effectively
Ability to maintain speed in meal production while ensuring high quality food
Ability to follow safety policies and procedures and immediately report injuries to their manager or manager on duty
Additional Preferred Skills/Qualities
Culinary arts education preferred
Second language a plus
Compensation
$24 Hourly
