Job Description

About Us

JKeys Design is a fast-growing sheet metal and plastics fabrication shop serving customers in aerospace, technology, and other advanced industries. We operate our CNC router, laser cutter, and press brake to produce precision parts. This role is well suited for someone early in their manufacturing or engineering career who wants real, hands-on experience and a clear path to advancement in modern CNC machining.

What You’ll Do

Load, fixture, and secure sheet metal and plastic materials on our CNC router and laser cutter.

Operate a CNC press brake to bend and form sheet metal parts per drawings and bend programs.

Set machine origins (work offsets/zero points) and load CNC programs to run production jobs.

Set up, change, and maintain basic tooling, dies, and fixtures.

Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet drawings and specifications.

Keep your workstation clean, organized, and safe.

Track materials and log production and job details.

Learn to identify and troubleshoot basic machine or process issues.

Work independently on assigned jobs while collaborating with the team to meet production goals.

As skills develop, there will be opportunities to assist with and eventually operate 5-axis CNC milling equipment.

What We’re Looking For

Some mechanical or manufacturing background is required, such as:

Hands-on fabrication or welding experience

High school manufacturing, machining, or engineering courses (including relevant extracurricular activities or projects)

Trade school or technical training

Mechanical engineering studies (in progress or completed)

Prior experience in a shop, lab, or hands-on technical environment

Strong interest in learning how parts are made and how machines work.

Motivated, dependable, and comfortable taking ownership of your work.

Able to work independently while knowing when to ask questions.

Positive attitude and willingness to learn from feedback and experience.

Comfortable working hands-on around machinery and tools.

Ability to lift and handle sheet materials up to 50 lbs.

Able to work accurately with measurements, tolerances, and part specifications.

Prior CNC router, laser, press brake, or machining exposure is a plus, but not required.

What We Offer

Starting pay range: $18–$23 per hour, depending on experience and demonstrated skills.

Strong internal promotion opportunities with significant pay growth as skills develop, leading to advanced roles in setup, CNC programming, 5-axis machining, quality, or shop leadership.

Hands-on experience with real production work on our CNC router, laser cutter, press brake, and future 5-axis machining capability.

A fast-paced, supportive shop environment where learning, improvement, and initiative are valued.
