Computer Support Specialist

11-Month Position - Technology Department

Position Overview

The Computer Support Specialist provides technical assistance and support for students and staff. This role is responsible for troubleshooting hardware, software, and classroom technology; managing student and staff devices; and monitoring systems to ensure reliability, security, and performance. The position directly supports the effective use of instructional technology and contributes to a high-quality teaching and learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

Provide timely technical support for computers, tablets, peripherals, classroom technology, and district-supported applications.

Respond to technology service requests and assist users in resolving issues through in-person and remote support.

Manage student and staff device inventory, including distribution, collection, tracking, and maintenance.

Monitor district systems and equipment for performance, security, and safety concerns, escalating issues as needed.

Assist with installation, configuration, updates, and troubleshooting of hardware and software.

Support classroom technology needs and ensure availability of instructional tools and resources.

Collaborate with the Technology Director and Technology Department to support projects, initiatives, and district technology goals.

Qualifications Required:

Associate's degree or verifiable related experience in technology support.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and administrators.

Familiarity with operating systems, device management, and common instructional technology tools.

Ability to learn new technologies and adapt to changing district needs.

Excellent organizational skills, particularly with equipment inventory and documentation.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Physical & Work Requirements

Ability to lift and move technology equipment as needed.

Ability to work in various environments, including classrooms, offices, wiring closets, and mechanical spaces.

Occasional irregular or extended hours may be required to support system maintenance or project implementation.
