The Wise Events team at OCLC is seeking an experienced Lead Drupal Engineer to join our development team in Dublin, OH. Wise Events provides comprehensive event management solutions for libraries worldwide, helping them create, promote, and manage engaging community programs. This role will focus on architecting and developing robust web applications using Drupal while mentoring junior developers and driving technical excellence across the team.
Responsibilities:
Lead the technical architecture, design, and development of complex Drupal-based solutions for the Wise Events platform
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level developers on the team
Analyze, debug, and solve complex problems in a service-oriented, multi-application environment
Perform high-level system analysis and architect scalable solutions for new and existing event management features
Lead code reviews and establish development best practices and coding standards
Participate in and guide unit, system & acceptance testing by designing comprehensive test strategies, building test data, and implementing automated testing solutions
Drive innovation by developing reusable components, modules, and methodologies that enhance team productivity
Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
Execute with speed and agility while maintaining high code quality and system reliability
Champion accessibility, performance optimization, and security best practices. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline
5-7 years of web development experience with 3+ years focused on Drupal development
Expert-level proficiency in Drupal 9/10, PHP, MySQL, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript
Strong experience with Drupal theming, custom module development, and site building
Proficiency with version control systems (Git), composer dependency management
Experience with RESTful APIs, JSON, and web services integration
Solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles and MVC architecture
Proven leadership experience mentoring developers and leading technical projects
Strong oral, written, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Creative problem-solver with innovative thinking and attention to detail
Experience with Agile methodology, Scrum framework, and JIRA for project management
Knowledge of modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue.js, or Angular)
Experience with cloud platforms (Pantheon preferred) and DevOps practices
