Litigation Legal Assistant
Our client, a multi-service law firm in Montgomery County, is seeking a Legal Assistant to join their team and provide support to an Attorney. This role will perform a variety of administrative duties to assist Attorney according to established policies and procedures while maintaining positive contact with clients and observing confidentiality of client matters.
This is a temporary role, onsite Monday through Friday.Responsibilities
Maintain Partner calendar with detail and accuracy, including court dates, scheduling client appointments, deadlines, and reminders per firm policies and procedures.
Screen telephone calls and record messages.
New client intake in accordance with department requirements.
Open, update and maintain client matters and documents in electronic case management and document management software per firm policies and procedures.
Run conflict checks in case management software per firm policies and procedures.
Create, organize, and maintain paper client files when requested.
Draft, type, format, proofread and edit correspondence and legal documents.
Photocopy, scan, file, fax, and mail documents.
E-file and/or paper file legal documents with various courts.
Review, process, save and disseminate incoming mail.
Schedule court reporters and couriers.
Record documents with the Recorder of Deeds.
Dictation.
Prepare check requests for reimbursements and client costs.
Track and save Visa transaction receipts.
Handle meetings and travel arrangements.
Communicate with clients.
Assist with trial preparation.
Provide back-up support to other attorneys and assistants as needed.
Other secretarial duties as needed.
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in order to gain an understanding of law office policies and procedures and to produce accurate legal documents with minimal supervision.
3+ years of experience in Litigation preferred.
Knowledge of legal principles and practices.
Highly organized and detail-oriented with the proven ability to multitask, process a high volume of work in a timely and accurate manner with a high attention to detail under time constraints.
Proven ability to follow-up, effectively prioritize, and manage multiple matters.
Ability to proofread typed material for contextual, grammatical, typographical or spelling errors.
Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate in person, by e-mail and telephone to provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Experience with Case Management, Document Management, Time and Billing Software
