Overview Steampunk is looking for a ServiceNow Developer to support one of our federal customers.
The ServiceNow Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, configuring, and implementing solutions within the ServiceNow platform to support enterprise workflows, IT Service Management (ITSM), IT Operations Management (ITOM), Customer Service Management (CSM), and other platform capabilities.
This role works closely with product owners, business analysts, and technical teams to deliver scalable, secure, and user-friendly ServiceNow applications that meet organizational and customer requirements.
The ServiceNow Developer ensures platform stability, maintains best practices, and supports continuous improvement across the ServiceNow ecosystem.
Contributions Responsibilities include: * Design, develop, and implement solutions that will integrate with the ServiceNow platform, including Microsoft Power BI, custom applications, workflows, and automation.
* Develop and maintain client scripts, business rules, UI policies, UI actions, script includes, and other server/client-side components.
* Create and manage flows, subflows, and automation using Flow Designer and ServiceNow best practices.
* Customize and develop Service Catalog items, record producers, workflows, and request fulfillment processes.
* Evaluate and optimize Service Catalog items and workflows.
* Support data management activities including data loads, transform maps, and XML imports/exports.
* Develop process maps and documentation depicting workflows and cross-functional processes.
* Work with process owners to document current processes and redesign workflows involving ServiceNow to improve efficiency.
* Translate requirements into fully functional features by collaborating with team leads and stakeholders.
* Develop and maintain dashboards and reports for performance monitoring and analytics.
* Support ongoing implementation, change management, and documentation activities.
* Utilize Agile methodologies and maintain Dev-Test-Prod pipelines for ServiceNow integrations and development.
* Develop and maintain REST/SOAP integrations between ServiceNow and external systems.
* Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements, define solutions, and provide expert platform guidance.
* Maintain platform documentation, including technical specifications, configuration records, and architectural diagrams.
* Ensure all development adheres to security, compliance, and coding best practices.
Qualifications Required: * Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
* Bachelors degree and 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience.
* 3+ years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience, including scripting (JavaScript), integrations, and module configuration.
* Strong understanding of core ServiceNow applications: Incident, Problem, Change, Request, CMDB, and Knowledge.
* Experience developing scripts and components such as business rules, client scripts, script includes, UI policies, UI actions, and scheduled jobs.
* Hands-on experience with Flow Designer, Workflow Editor, and Service Catalog development.
* Experience creating and consuming REST and SOAP APIs for integrations.
* Knowledge of relational databases, data modeling, and CMDB structure.
* Understanding of ServiceNow security concepts including ACLs and role-based access.
* Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* ServiceNow Certified Systems Administrator (CSA) or similar certification . Preferred: * One or more additional ServiceNow certifications, such as: * Certified Application Developer (CAD) * ITSM, ITOM, CSM micro-certifications * Discovery or Service Mapping certifications * Experience supporting environments in federal or regulated settings.
* Experience with ITOM, CMDB enrichment, or event/discovery tools.
* Experience with HRSD, CSM, SecOps, IRM, or custom application development.
* Hands-on experience with Microsoft PowerApps.
* NIH experience.
* Ability to be onsite in Bethesda, MD.

The projected compensation range for this position is $85,000 to $170,000.
The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
